I love baking, but that wasn’t always true for me.
You see, I grew up in a home where children did not help with baking or any type of meal preparation. In fact, my mother never even taught me how to cook before I left for college. I could barely boil water on my own! As you might imagine, learning on the fly was a bit of a disaster and back then I truly hated cooking of any type.
Even making something as simple as cookies from scratch was a real challenge for me. I vividly remember one instance where I was trying to make oatmeal raisin cookies. I’m not sure how I did it, but I ended up with oatmeal raisin cookie balls instead. That cookie dough batter just did not spread into a cookie shape in the oven. Instead, it stayed in a ball and that’s how I made cookie balls by accident. They were still tasty, but definitely a kitchen mishap!
Fast forward to today and those mishaps are a thing of the past. Now, I do a lot of baking and cooking from scratch and I just love it. Nothing put me more at peace than spending time in the kitchen coming up with some new recipe to try. Of course, these days I get a lot of inspiration from Pinterest but I do still try a few new things of my own creation, like any baker is oft to do.
I hope you enjoy my ramblings on baking!
